Bharat Bandh Details
BJP-led NDA announced the strike on 20th September country wide due to recent hike to protest diesel price hike, subsidised LPG cylinders cap, and FDI in retail.

However due to the Ganesh Chaturthi on 19th September Political parties, including the Shiv Sena, BJP and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), aren’t willing to enforce a shutdown.
BJP has appeled to traders to support Bharat Bandh. BJP president Nitin Gadkari and NDA convenor Sharad Yadav will address traders at Karol Bagh, the business hub in the national capital. However around 2,000 traders and 15,000 mathadi workers in the agriculture produce market committee (APMC) at Vashi have decided to shut down their shops on September 20 in protest against FDI.
In a joint statement, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav along with Left parties, JD(S), BJD and TDP alleged that the UPA government has "stuck cruel blows on the people one after another" by raising diesel price, limiting subsidised cooking gas, opening up of multi-brand retail and disinvestment of PSUs.

Effect of Bandh in Mumbai
Transport:- It won't hit public transport, The undertaking will, however, run fewer buses between 6am and 8am. While taxi and auto unions will not support the bandh, but they maintained their drivers might go off roads if violence erupted. Suburban trains will run as usual.
-Railways:- A railway spokesperson said Western and Central railways, including Harbour Line, would not participate in the strike
-MSRTC public relations officer Mukund Dhus said AC Volvo uses from Mumbai to Pune, Nashik, Bengaluru and other places would operate as usual. Transporters, however, will go on strike from Tuesday midnight.
-Schools in Mumbai are yet to decide if the institutes will stay shut on Thursday, but Mumbai University will be open
-Offices & Industries:- BJP leader Gopinath Munde said the bandh would be limited to offices and industries in Mumbai and Thane.
Effect of Bandh in Gujarat
Gujarat BJP has declared support to ‘Bharat bandh’ call of NDA on 20th September.
Gujarat BJP President RC Faldu today in a statement appealed people of Gujarat to observed a strike peacefully on 20th September on the issue of price hike, corruption and FDI policy of the centre.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Bharat Udyog Vyapar Mandal have called for a ‘Bharat Trade Bandh’ on 20 September, 2012. Due to the nation wise strike around 5 crore traders and more than 10 thousand trade associations across the country will participate in the nationwide strike.
