Avtar Kishan Hangal died at the age of 95, Veteran actor AK Hangal passes away in Mumbai, Imam Chacha or Bipinlal Pandey died in Mumbai
The popular Veteran actor Avtar Kishan Hangal who was recently had been admitted to the hospital in a critical condition died at the age of 95. Born on February 1, 1917.
AK Hangal was better known as Imam Chacha or Bipinlal Pandey, immortal characters he played in films such as ‘Sholay’ and ‘Namak Haraam’.
Hangal, who had been in and out of hospital since the last few years, suffered from several ailments including tuberculosis, high blood pressure and kidney dysfunction. Doctors attending to him felt that he needed to be operated on but considering his advanced age it was decided that he was not fit for surgery.
Hangal had started with Basu Bhattacharya’s ‘Teesri Kasam’ in 1966 and went on to portray different shades of the old age in countless number of films. He got featured in a number of roles on the small screen also. Recently, he was seen as a guest character in ‘Madhubala’.
